Pilasters, Former Bullock's Wilshire, Wilshire Pl, Koreatown

The half-columns or pilasters that line the exterior of Bullock's Wilshire are massive, yet, when viewed up close reveal themselves to be intricate and refined.  It's one thing to look at a building from a distance from which one can see the entire structure, but it's another entirely to experience architecture from close enough to physically reach out and touch it.  The architect John Parkinson and his son, Donald, who had been made a partner in his firm and was the chief designer of Bullock's Wilshire, had to address both circumstances for the building to succeed.
