Built in 1931, the Los Angeles Stock Exchange looks more than anything like a formidable Streamline Moderne safe. It shouldn't come as a surprise since one of the architect John Parkinson's firm's objectives was to convey a sense of strength and security. This was especially true in the wake of the stock market crash of 1929, ironically the year the building broke ground.
