Shrub, Self Storage, Valley Blvd, Rosemead

Storage facilities have grown like mushrooms pretty much everywhere, and the San Gabriel Valley is no exception. A lot of them are located in what might have been seen as unusable commercial lots, next to and under freeways, high voltage wires, next to the LA River, and the like. This one in Rosemead is unusual, sitting as it does right on Valley Blvd. The blue pilasters against white walls also distinguish it from others. The heavily trimmed shrub doesn't resemble what likely started out as an Italian cypress, but it is doing the best that it can to soften the severity of the architecture.
